How to determine the right EV for you

Determining the right EV for you is very dependent on how you plan to use and drive your EV. Here are some things to think about:

• Your primary use for the EV
• What style you prefer and size/utility of vehicle you need
• Your desire for luxury features
• How sporty and drive feel you are looking for
• Your budget for a new EV
• Perhaps any manufacturer biases (for or against)

This section will provide you possible solutions based on your answers to key questions. Obviously, we can not determine exactly which car is the "best" one for you - only you can do that. However, we can provide some suggestions and guidance to help narrow down what might work best for your needs. Below are five key questions that should help narrow your search. After answering each question, view the answer matrix  below. The other downloadable file you may find helpful is the List of Available EVs which provides more information about each vehicle. Budget constraints are embedded in the answer matrix. You will have to apply your manufacturer biases after reviewing the possible solutions. 

Many vehicles come in different trim levels with various battery sizes, 2WD vs. AWD, varying amounts of luxury features, and different levels of driving safety technology. Determining the right EV for you only just begins after you answer the question below and compare them to the answer matrix (also reviewing the data associated with the list of available EVs). Once you are able to narrow your search to 3-5 vehicles it will be important to continue your research, check on your options and additional costs, weigh the tradeoffs against price, and go test driving.
